Abstract

Education has transformed, along with technologies, not only due to the rise of virtual and distance education but also on account of the new Covid 19 pandemic-given context that has transferred pedagogical and teaching practices to virtuality, directly influencing learning processes. This research paper aims to analyze the employment of one of the most used technologies to mediate education, i.e., virtual classrooms (virtual learning   environments). To that end, a case study was carried out in two distance and on-campus modality Public Accounting programs of the Universidad Militar Nueva   Granada,   Colombia,   based   on   the triangulation of data gathered after analyzing interviews with teachers, student surveys, and reviewing virtual classrooms. We concluded that virtual classrooms should be used more effectively by articulating new didactic and pedagogical forms, and doing so requires further training and institutional support for the teachers.
