A Social Studies Proposal: Multiplicities, Critical Convergences and social development

Abstract

This article presents a theoretical proposal for Social Studies, emphasizing an approach that transcends disciplinary and interdisciplinary perspectives. It focuses on the concept of “social becoming”, understood as a process of interconnectedness, multiplicity and difference that captures the ever-changing nature of the social, in contrast to a compartmentalized view of the traditional Social Sciences. This approach to the social is achieved through “critical convergences”, which merge diverse fields of knowledge such as politics, ethics, ontology and aesthetics to make visible the emergent and transformative. This perspective seeks to understand the problematizations of the present by exploring the molecular and virtual plane of the society beyond organized and stratified structures. In this way, an experimental and rhizomatic methodology is proposed that allows the researcher to move between the different planes of the social to account for its mutations.
