Abstract

The characteristics of life of families of people with disabilities care dependents in Medellin – Colombia are studied. The objective was to determine the characteristics of life of caregiving families of people with disabilities in this city. A methodological approach based on the quantitative paradigm was used, supported by a type of non-experimental research or ex post facto. In the results found it can be seen that the position to be carer of a person with disabilities, transform living conditions, because aspects related to the economy, the education, the health and access to public services are harmed. Through the study it can be concluded that it is essential that modifications are promoted in government entities and in public policy, so that greater opportunities occur both for families and for people with disabilities.
