Abstract

This paper aims to show similarities and differences between Mathematical Modeling and Statistical Modeling in contemporary times, with the purpose of providing criteria in the selection of reference contents and implementing appropriate learning scenarios and even designing a sequence of permanent activities that allow students to acquire the ability to build scientific knowledge. For this purpose, a critical- interpretative documentary study is carried out, which allowed to advance in the state of the art, highlighting the great evidence of theories and research contributions at all educational levels towards Mathematical Modeling and Statistical Modeling. It is concluded on the diversity of conceptions between Mathematical Modeling and Statistical Modeling, starting from the meanings of words such as mathematization, model and modeling.
