Intervention strategy in communities for environmental conservation: a methodological approach for social research

Abstract

Communication and education are the perfect combination that has contributed to the establishment of new social dynamics, which have generated processes of transformation of the ways of being, thinking and acting of the human being in relation to the political, economic, social, cultural and environmental. Today, the protection and conservation of natural resources has become a key concept for the survival of society. Given this reality, it has been understood that through education and communication, different communities can be sensitized to strengthen the relationship between human beings and the environment.


The present article shows the results of the methodological contribution developed in 12 researches, which had as key actors educational institutions of the North of Santander and older adults settled in the basin of the Pamplonita River. Thus, through education and a qualitative approach, strong links were built with local communities that had not addressed environmental issues from their context, problems and needs. The method applied in the projects constituted the input for the construction of the proposal, being the participant and non- participant observation, the application of interviews and the realization of workshops, the fundamental base to obtain the results that allow the social-environmental transformation.


From the analysis of the research carried out, a methodological guide was constructed that characterizes the process of sensitization. As a result of this, the method was designed to strengthen the relationship between human beings and the environment through strategies, in order to generate socio-environmental changes where natural resources are preserved and protected.


In this sense, the designed proposal contains the phases of environmental diagnosis, design, implementation and evaluation of the educative- communicative proposals, advancing in this way, in the generation of strategies as vital support to the educational process with the purpose of transcending in a positive way in the communities.
