Abstract

The purpose of this work is to identify the teaching, learning and evaluation (T-L-Ev) proposal of three university textbooks of Human Gross Anatomy (HGA) to propose an improvement for the design and use of the same; the learning of HGA has been considered fundamental in the training of students of the academic program of Medicine and Surgery. The teaching practiced in medical schools has been classified as traditional, characterized by a transmissionist conception of knowledge; in this approach, learning is memoristic and repetitive and as for the evaluation of anatomical knowledge, it is generally corroborated with a multiple-choice test, in which the accumulation of information is evaluated.


For the review and analysis of the texts, three phases were proposed: Firstly, the textbooks for the study were selected according to a consultation made to university professors in the area. Secondly, the T-L-Ev proposal was identified through the elaboration of a comparative table and following the characteristics proposed by different authors to answer the following questions: What is the purpose of the text? What is the structure of the text? How is teaching proposed? How is learning conceived? How is the evaluation planned? What is the rhetoric used? And what illustrations and images are used to represent the concepts? Finally, based on the analysis carried out, a proposal was made to contribute to an improvement in the design and use of these textbooks.
