Abstract

In the novel entitled "1984", George Orwell coined the term non-person to define those whom the authoritarian state decides to eliminate, not only physically, but also to erase all public record and all private memory. The non-people after having been vaporized by not knowing who, not only cease to exist, but never existed. What remains of someone after being a person is not the memory of their being, which is not allowed, there is simply nothing left, nothing can be left. When someone is declared a non-person, their destiny is not death, the "disappearance", but evaporation, the elimination of all traces, of all traces. Non-people can still live, but they do not exist and they will never exist.
