Comprehensive intervention to the main caregiver syndrome with patients in palliative care programs

Abstract

The increase in the chronicity of diseases in the population permeates the requirement to identify family members who occupy care responsibilities in the progressive deterioration of health and that increases until the condition of the end of life “death”; All of this leads this caregiver to a change in lifestyle and well-being habits towards risks of an emotional, family, social and economic nature. This article refers to an analysis of the burnt-out caregiver syndrome with patients from palliative care programs in the city of Bucaramanga, based on a cross-sectional study that identifies the sociodemographic aspects of the main caregiver profile and the factors associated with both physical and physical overload. as emotional (assessed using the Zarit validated scale). The results of this research indicate that the profile of the main caregiver is women with overloads triggered by factors such as: emotional exhaustion, lack of freedom and development of leisure activities, and neglect of their health.
