Abstract

The digital nomad phenomenon has gained significant relevance in recent years, driven by technological evolution and the rise of remote work. This article presents a bibliometric review of the scientific production related to digital nomads within the tourism sector, utilizing the Scopus database and the Bibliometrix package in R Studio. The results reveal an exponential growth in research in this field since 2020, identifying key trends, influential authors, and emerging topics such as specific visas for nomads, the digital transformation of tourism, and the economic and social impact on non-traditional destinations. The review also highlights associated challenges, including gentrification and rising living costs in popular digital nomad destinations. This study provides a solid foundation for future research aiming to explore the intersection between tourism and digital nomadism in greater depth.
