Abstract
In this work, the author addresses hope as an ethical value. He analyses how hope has been treated to date from different ontological and ethical perspectives. For the author, hope is not identified with the desire for a dignified life for humankind. Hope does not originate “outside” the individual, but “within” them. Man is a ‘hopeful’ being by nature. His anthropological structure is open to others and, therefore, to hope. Finally, the author offers guidelines for educating in hope, highlighting the need to establish an ethical climate in the classroom and in the educational centre, as well as in the socio-family environment of the student.To this end, testimony, as an experience of value, is indispensable.
