Abstract
The articles in issue 4-8 of our journal Redipe offer thoughtful contributions to the field of research; some present research experiences in diverse fields and contexts. Ideally, educational institutions should embrace research as a recurring tool in the processes of knowledge acquisition and application, as well as in the development of values, attitudes, dispositions, and understandings, among other demands of holistic education. In a world that increasingly uses research and knowledge in general for utilitarian purposes, it is time for educational institutions and those responsible for education to develop critical and proactive attitudes that will drive the creation of policies promoting and safeguarding, at least within schools, the development of both the act and the product of research.
