Abstract
The new educational systems must be within the paradigm of environmental education so that they respond to collective realities. The environmentally educated population is a critical ingredient for sustainable development. Recognize that the environmental competencies of university students contribute to the care of the environment, water, solid waste, sewers. The work with the environmental pedagogy for the development of competences demands of ludic methods that propitiate that the students become subjects of their own learning and environmental managers. It is qualitative, descriptive, because we will detail numerically the frequency, intensity and how the variables studied are related. It is transversal because it is studied in a temporary segment, a semester April-August 2018. It is Bibliographic, based on documents, programs of connection with the community, educational projects, academic activities, pedagogical experiences, educational designs related to the problem of environmental awareness . The population was constituted with 69 students applying a questionnaire and interview to the community that presented the predictor variable. Environmental Pedagogy develops competences and their dimensions: care of the environment, water, solid waste recycling and sewage cleaning. In Environmental Education, the interdisciplinary nature is urgent and necessary. That put the ethical bases to build essential aspects of the communities.
