Abstract

The title of this issue of the Boletín Redipe Magazine vindicates the inseparable relationship between Philosophy and life. Particularly the first three articles, including the editorial, contribute to the clarification of the nexus between philosophy and lifestyles for our present. It highlights the effort of three views on the matter, assumed by three scholars of philosophy interested in the subject. What role today plays philosophy for times as complex as those we face and how it affects lifestyles? The writings collect reflections that revolve around this question. The first, The arts of existence in the ways of being. A reading of four texts by Agamben, includes a call that addresses the meaning of philosophy and its impact on contemporary ways of being. The second, From Socrates to Foucault: a long tradition of philosophy as a way of life and art of living in the light of Pierre Hadot and Alexander Nehamas, traces a historical arc from Socrates to Foucault, passing by Epictetus, according to which the thread Philosophy conductor is an integral form of life and / or art of living and not a simple academic speculative activity. The third, Gómez Dávila and philosophy as a way of life, predominates the importance of philosophy in its practical, intimate and singular sense as a commitment to life for our time.
We invite the reader to address these philosophical readings, so necessary for our present.
