Este estudio tiene como objetivo central identificar la influencia de la implementación de tareas orales mediante la combinación del enfoque basado en tareas y el enfoque léxico en cuatro componentes de la competencia oral: vocabulario, estructura, pronunciación y fluidez. La investigación se desarrolló mediante la metodología de investigación acción. Se aplicó una pre-prueba a 32 estudiantes del nivel inicial del programa de suficiencia de inglés del Centro Cultural de Idiomas de la Universidad Técnica de Cotopaxi. Luego, se realizó la implementación de tareas orales mediante la combinación del enfoque basando en tareas y el enfoque léxico. Finalmente se aplicó una post-prueba para evaluar la competencia oral de los estudiantes. La comparación de la media alcanzada en la pre-prueba y la postprueba indica que los estudiantes mejoran su rendimiento en los cuatro componentes de la competencia oral: vocabulario, estructura, pronunciación, y fluidez. En conclusión, los resultados muestran que la implementación de las tareas orales mediante la combinación de enfoque basado en tareas y el enfoque léxico influyen de forma significativa en la competencia oral, por lo que se podría considera como una herramienta didáctica innovadora en el proceso de aprendizaje del idioma inglés.
