Strategy to achieve hand hygiene in children

Abstract
Several studies have proved the effectiveness of intervention in hand hygiene for health care. Taking into account these findings, this research aims at applying a pedagogical strategy to achieve habits related to hand hygiene. Additionally, it seeks to identify the steps followed by children in relation to the care of cleaning their hands, during application of the pedagogical strategy. The observations were made during the pedagogical practice of the students from the Children`s Education program at Universidad Surcolombiana. Finally, it was observed that all the steps of the handwashing process were assimilated between 55% and 90% of the children.
