Abstract

This article is derived from research on the appropriation of public space in the downtown area of the city of San José de Cúcuta. The research was based on an ethnographic study that allowed the investigation through in-depth interviews and observation, where the approach to the life stories of people engaged in informal activity in the public space around the shopping center was achieved. Mercedes.   Likewise, the concept of commercial occupation and appropriation of public space was examined, to specify the ways in which these people generate links with public space, the place they have chosen to carry out their informal work.
