Abstract

CTEM is an application oriented to student use and requires knowledge of manufacturing processes. The development of the CTEM (Technical and Economic Conditions during Machining) application is described, which allows to find in a didactic way the efficient cutting speeds for 4 manufacturing operations: turning and facing on the lathe and face and cylindrical milling on the milling machine. The application allows, through a graphical interface, a user to enter the basic parameters for the above mentioned manufacturing processes and obtain the following results: a graph of the cost and time criteria as a function of cutting speed; the cutting speeds, tool life time and RPM for the criteria of maximum production, minimum cost and maximum profit, defined by studies dedicated to the economics of cutting processes.
