Abstract
This article presents a supplementary program for the subject of Geography of Cuba, aimed at sixth-grade students of Primary Education, designed as a result of a research project focused on the new work methods of the Third Educational Improvement. The program seeks to strengthen cultural identity through the study of the local landscape as a fundamental element in its construction. It uses a mixed research approach, with questionnaires, semi-structured interviews, and document analysis, to analyze the importance of the landscape in the formation of local identity. The program promotes student interaction with their immediate surroundings through practical analysis and comprehension activities, and integrates projects that explore local history, traditions, and culture, fostering the development of skills such as observation, criticism, and interpretation. The article concludes by reflecting on the importance of integrating the study of the local landscape into the primary education curriculum as a tool for building a stronger cultural identity in future generations.
