Teaching for university student participation in the practice of civility and good manners

Abstract

Before the aggressions that the own men provide to the humanity and their natural environment, the prevalence of a humanist conception is required in the relationships and human actions. The education constitutes an unavoidable road to form beings that cohabit in a better world, in which the values mark the direction of a fortunate future, while instruction and education go in unit. The moral and civic education offers an important contribution in front of attitudes that are manifested in the current Cuban society and in specific among the youths that denote disrespect, violence, courtesy absence in the interpersonal relationships, signs of the domain of instincts and emotions negatives. The Manual text of Courtesy and Good Ways for the youth’s of both sexes use, written by the Venezuelan intellectual Manuel Carreño, published in 1853, it represents a symbolic work in the moral and social education of Spanish America that has been reproduced and adapted in numerous occasions. Their teachings can be kept in mind for the integral formation of the Cuban university students with the necessary adaptations for the present time. The present work explains the main characteristics of the Manual and it exposes part of its teachings, with the purpose of motivating the educational university students to have them present in its pedagogic practice, in the search of a student active participation for the one on the way to the courtesy and the good ways. For their making the methods of theoretical investigation were used in correspondence with the objective of the deployed scientific work.
