Alberto Masferrer’s pedagogical thought for training in values (human quality) from a comprehensive edifying perspective

Abstract
Alberto Masferrer, a Salvadoran thinker and educator, writer, politician, developed a pedagogical approach focused on the formation of a resilient individual, aware of his truth, his limitations and strengths. His pedagogical thinking is based on a comprehensive and edifying vision of education, where the moral and ethical development of individuals, their human quality is essential for the construction of a more just and equitable society. Masferrer maintained that education should not be limited to the acquisition of academic knowledge, but should also focus on the formation of character and human values. He defended the need to train people who were aware of their social responsibility and who acted for the common Good. For him, education should instill virtues such as: human quality, solidarity, justice, honesty, respect for others.
