Abstract

The concept of resilience has evolved theoretically; in principle, it was considered as a capacity; then as a process, to respond to a series of situations that affect individuals according to a context and a historical reference; nowadays it is conceived as a hopeful proposal with intervention alternatives to contribute to the formation of subjects and communities capable of overcoming adversities, and even coming out stronger from them.

In this Case study of qualitative approach, of non-experimental type and developed under the hermeneutic-critical method, the origin of the concept of resilience and its application in the educational field is understood, specifically in the context of three educational projects of the city of Medellín that serve vulnerable socio- educational groups: Caminos para la resiliencia, Familias fuertes y resilientes, and Ícaro.

Then a critique is made of the concept around the ways in which these programs appropriate this, social as well as theoretical and disciplinary.

Finally, a critical analysis of the concept is carried out; and it is proposed as an alternative notion, the resistance.
