Abstract

It is inevitable to build contrasting images about the reality and everyday life of many educational contexts at the local and national level while going through the pages of Professor Julio Cesar Arboleda's article. For this reason and because of the clear distance that the teacher tries to establish between competency-based learning and learning for understanding, this space seeks to dialogue with its main propositions.

Two concepts developed in the article are central, the pedagogy of alterity and the comprehensive constructive approach. Its importance lies in its objective, which is to build ethical relationships, based on respectful exchanges, recognizing the other in all its complexity to contribute to their training as subjects; thus opposing the values promoted by the prevailing capitalist market system.
